Testing Process
Intake: This is about a one-hour meeting with the client (if over 18), client and parent/guardian (if under 18), or just the parent/guardian if the client is younger than 12 years old. The intake can occur in-person or online. We will discuss current concerns and any questions regarding the testing process. I will also gather relevant background information. This all helps me narrow down my testing battery (list of assessments I will administer). Scheduling for in-person testing will occur at the end of the intake session.
In-Person Testing: This typically takes 2 to 4 hours, but can be longer depending on the referral question(s). Testing is usually scheduled for one 4-hour appointment, or two, 2-hour appointments. Breaks are permitted during testing. This is with the client only. Client will complete questionnaires and be administered tests such as an IQ test, academic testing, memory test, or computer test for ADHD. Any teacher or parent assessments are also distributed at the start of the first testing session.
*If any consultation is requested with an outside provider or teacher, a release of information will need to be signed by the client or guardian/parent (if client is under the age of 18).Scoring/Report Writing/Consultations/Review of Documentation: After the last testing session and in preparation for the feedback session, I will then score all the assessments, interpret results, and write them in a thorough report. I will also use this time to review any documentation provided and consult with any outside providers/teachers.
Feedback Session: This is typically scheduled two weeks after all testing is completed and can be done in-person or online. This is scheduled for an hour and is where I go over the report with the client and/or parents (if client is under the age of 18). You are emailed the report prior to the feedback session. This report includes any relevant background information, all assessment results, any conclusions/diagnoses, recommendations for next steps, as well as a list of resources. Work or school accommodations can be included in the recommendations section.
